My trip to Iceland was a dream come true. It was more than a vacation; it was my time and my time only to recharge, relax, and refuel. I booked a solo trip with EF Go Ahead Tours® and the people in my group were phenomenal. I laughed and learned a lot while on tour with them. Our tour guide helped me to see life in a new way, through the eyes of child(with the help of the fairies & trolls~lol).
When I left in October 2021 for my adventure, I was mentally drained, physically tired, and literally holding on to the hope that God and I would have a wonderful time.
As I sat in the airport waiting to board the plane back home, it was difficult for me not to cry because I found the real me during my time away. Over the past several years I struggled mentally and with my self image to the point I didn’t really know who I was. I would spend time writing and encouraging others because I wanted to make sure people knew how much God loved them and how the world is a better place because they are in it. Unfortunately, I didn’t do the same for myself.
I was slowly drifting into a void that would lead to my demise.

During my trip I regained a sense of life and meaning. I held back the tears when our tour director said “I noticed a good difference in you”. He went on to explain how I seemed free and a lot less apprehensive. What I believed happened was he saw the inside of me finally being healed. During my escape from the U.S. I began dreaming again, I consciously chose to analyze my current state, and allow God to fill me again with His passion for life. I was alive again.
This trip was everything!!!
Freedom is a word that I live now.
