“Girl, I’m driving tonight, just get dressed and I’ll be there in an hour” Mechelle told Lala her best friend as she hung up the phone. It was Friday night and girls night which made it even better. Mechelle a 25 year old black woman with a new lease on life. She had moved back home to Chicago after relocating from New York after surviving an abusive marriage. Mechelle just wanted to live life to the fullest, enjoy the people in her life however for some odd reason tonight just felt different. It was as if her life was getting ready to change, but would it be for the better?
Mechelle’s best friend Lala was dressed as if she was on the prowl ready to pounce on the first piece of meat she saw. Mechelle decided to wear her backless long black dress with the slit on the side to leave a little room for the imagination. She was gorgeous and felt good from the inside out after years of low self-esteem, doubt and fear.
Tonight was definitely going to be different…….
Mechelle danced the night away with whoever asked as she did every time she went to one of Chicago’s most popular club “The Palace”. Dancing made her feel alive and free. The beat of the music took her to a place of liberty filled with joy, which helped her heal.
The song was over and she was walking off the dance floor, before she stepped down he was standing there. It was as if life began to move in slow motion as both their eyes met. There was a moca man standing in front of her with the softest eyes looking back at her.
“Would you like to dance”? He asked….
